SUSE , a global leader in innovative, open and secure enterprise solutions, unveiled SUSE AI, SUSE’s vision and strategy for open, secure and enterprise-grade generative AI. SUSE AI offers a turnkey platform that gives companies the freedom to run their own generative AI solutions with the Large Language Model (LLM) of their choice – on-premises or in the cloud. Customers and partners are invited to join the SUSE AI Early Access Program, a collaborative initiative that aims to help shape the future of secure, open source AI for enterprises.

“While the value of generative AI – and the need for it – is becoming increasingly evident, we see customers struggling with compliance risks, shadow AI and a lack of control. Not to mention the vendor lock-in and skyrocketing costs associated with early-stage AI solutions,” said Pilar Santamaria , Vice President of AI Worldwide at SUSE. “SUSE’s AI approach, which is behind SUSE AI solutions and the SUSE AI Early Access Program, will help solve many of these problems for customers and also for SUSE itself, because we face the same challenges as other companies when implementing generative AI.”

AI solutions from SUSE

SUSE AI solutions provide enterprises with a modular, secure, vendor-independent, and LLM-agnostic GenAI platform that breaks down silos and lowers the cost of implementing generative AI in enterprises. Insights from customers, partners, and the community from the Early Access Program will be incorporated into development. Market launch is planned for late 2024.

The new AI solutions are based on the industry-leading open source enterprise operating system SUSE Linux, the Kubernetes management platform Rancher Prime and the security offerings of NeuVector Prime. They enable companies to control data flows in a secure, private environment, reduce compliance risks and improve security. Many companies are looking for the right balance between AI-powered innovations and the associated risks. With SUSE AI solutions, they gain a better overview of business-critical data and can thus exploit the full potential of generative AI.

SUSE AI Early Access Program

SUSE is committed to collaboration and co-innovation and is therefore launching the SUSE AI Early Access Program. This collaborative initiative lays the foundation for secure and compliant open source GenAI in the enterprise. The SUSE AI Early Access Program connects customers and partners with SUSE experts in generative AI and will play a critical role in the future direction of SUSE AI solutions. Customers in the Early Access Program have access to the latest builds of SUSE AI solutions and can work with SUSE consultants and technical support to get the most out of SUSE AI solutions and realize the potential of private AI.

SUSE AI strategy and roadmap

SUSE’s AI strategy is based on the principles of open source, a comprehensive security commitment, and the belief that customer choice, including privacy by design, is paramount. SUSE AI takes a responsible approach to AI, giving organizations the freedom to choose the models and tools they prefer to get the most out of AI in a private, secure environment.

AI at SUSE is a different AI, a “Human First AI”. Recognizing the value of responsible AI, SUSE strives to maximize the capabilities of AI along with human talent, putting people at the center. AI will improve the way work gets done by removing repetitive obstacles and helping organizations scale and innovate quickly. SUSE focuses not only on the benefits of AI, but also on the ambitious goals associated with each AI use case. SUSE’s AI roadmap will usher in a wave of enterprise-grade AI solutions focused on protecting data and giving customers control.

SUSE is committed to building the best open AI platform that accelerates the development of AI models and applications. We aim to become the leading provider of enterprise AI technology that offers openness, choice, cost-effectiveness and simplicity, making AI accessible to all.

“The rapid evolution of AI, both as a technology and as a market, has left many companies lacking the right solutions for their specific needs,” said Frank Feldmann , Chief Strategy Officer at SUSE. “With so much at stake, customers need the flexibility to choose which AI technologies, including LLMs, they want to work with to innovate faster and more securely.”

Development of an AI ecosystem supported by SUSE

SUSE’s portfolio is already helping customers harness the power of AI. Fujitsu, a global partner for digital and sustainable transformation, has developed a private solution for generative AI based on Rancher Prime, SUSE’s market-leading Kubernetes management platform, and SUSE Linux Enterprise. This solution enables companies to easily contextualize and query information in generative AI. With this solution, Fujitsu meets its customers’ requirements for a secure GenAI platform.

“Generative AI helps bring innovation to our world. Our customers’ employees already use generative AI in their private lives and naturally want to use this technology in the workplace. With our solution, they can do this in a safe and secure environment,” says Udo Würtz, Chief Data Officer, European Platform Business at Fujitsu. “As a trusted partner, SUSE supports us in our GenAI product strategy through its collaboration, expertise and commitment to customer choice.”
