Sage, a globally renowned company that offers accounting, finance, human resources management, and payroll systems software services to small and mid-size companies, has entered into a partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS). This partnership was unveiled at Sage Future in San Francisco, California. The partnership merges the strengths of AI capabilities of Sage along with the best cloud computing platform offered by AWS.
With the aim of lowering the entry cost of cutting-edge technologies, the new initiative seeks to provide an opportunity for small businesses to upgrade their systems by integrating advanced AI-enabled applications. With more firms transitioning from exploring AI opportunities to actually using them, Sage and AWS have identified four critical areas:
- Innovation Acceleration: Rapidly scaling up market strategies to reach a wider client base with AI-powered financial management systems.
- Sage Developer Solutions on Amazon Bedrock: Providing developers with AI solutions on AgentCore via the AWS Marketplace.
- Seamless Integration: Addressing any technical challenges that may limit accessibility of AI to users.
- Migration to Cloud: Quickly moving from local computer franchises to the AWS cloud platform for increased speed, flexibility, and autonomy.

Industry data from IDC suggests that global AI spending will see an annual growth rate of 31.9% through 2029. Despite this trend, many SMBs struggle with the complexity and cost associated with upgrading core financial systems.
“AI presents a massive opportunity for small and mid-sized businesses. But they need AI they can trust, with the right support, tools and infrastructure to adopt it,” said Steve Hare, CEO of Sage. “This is what makes our collaboration with AWS so powerful. We’re making it easier and faster for our customers to have greater access to trusted intelligence, built into the way they run their business.”
“Small and mid-sized businesses shouldn’t have to choose between powerful technology and simplicity,” said Julia White, Chief Marketing Officer at AWS. “Working with AWS to innovate for the AI era, Sage is building intelligent agents that customers can discover and deploy directly in AWS Marketplace, so growing businesses can move faster from day one.”
Revolutionizing Finance with Autonomous Agents
The collaboration introduces Sage AI Developer Solutions, built on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore. These tools allow businesses to deploy specialized AI agents designed to handle critical financial tasks, such as accounts payable, payroll processing, compliance, and cash flow management. By automating these high-touch activities, business owners can shift their focus toward strategic growth.
Furthermore, Sage Partners will utilize the AgentCore platform to develop a diverse catalog of financial automation tools. These will be available through the AWS Marketplace, providing a centralized and secure environment for SMBs to procure and integrate AI into their existing tech stacks.
“This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to helping organizations put advanced technology to work in practical, meaningful ways,” said Ken Kortas, partner at Wipfli. “By building on Sage’s developer platform and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, we’re able to embed AI directly into the financial workflows that businesses rely on every day – driving better insight, stronger execution and lasting value. Making these solutions available through AWS Marketplace also allows organizations to adopt innovation with confidence, on their terms.”
A Modernized Pathway to the Cloud
The prospect of migrating to an AI-enabled environment can be intimidating for many organizations still entrenched in desktop software. To ease this transition, Sage and AWS are providing a dedicated set of migration tools and cloud infrastructure (delivered through the SMB focused workspaces division) that will immediately unlock realtime financial management, while paving the way toward autonomous agentic workspaces.
On AWS though Sage has also enabled its Independent Software Vendor (ISV) ecosystem. Now developers are freed up to concentrate on making their targeted solutions work with less integration burndelivering more value to the customer.
