Anthropic Labs Unveils Claude Design: A New Era of AI-Driven Visual Prototyping

Related stories

Anthropic has announced the launch of Claude Design, a sophisticated new product from Anthropic Labs designed to transform how professional teams ideate, prototype, and execute visual projects. Powered by the newly released Claude Opus 4.7 vision model, the tool enables a seamless collaborative experience between users and AI to generate polished assets ranging from interactive prototypes to high-stakes executive presentations.

Currently available in research preview for Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers, Claude Design addresses a common bottleneck in the B2B creative workflow: the “exploration tax.” By automating the heavy lifting of initial drafting and brand alignment, the platform allows designers to explore a broader range of creative directions while empowering non-designers such as product managers and founders to visualize complex ideas with professional-grade fidelity.

Strategic Versatility for Modern Teams

Claude Design has been built to be adaptable enough to serve many other purposes aside from creating images.

The following are some of the ways people have used it successfully:

  • Interactive Prototypes: Creators can take their static design mock-ups and make them interactive for usability testing without needing any engineers right away.
  • Wireframes for Rapid Development: Product managers can go from an idea to code by passing along the designs created by Claude to a tool such as Claude Code.
  • Materials That Align With Your Brand: Entrepreneurs and salespeople can take outlines and make them into brand-consistent slide decks using native PPTX and Canva integrations.
  • Frontier Design: Designers can incorporate voice, video, shaders, and 3D into their work with AI-driven prototyping.

Precision Controls and Brand Consistency

Claude Design, unlike other generative applications, ties into the brand identity of the company. The tool examines the source code and the design files of an organization during onboarding and builds a unique design system for each team. All designs produced automatically follow the typography rules, color schemes, and components defined in such a design system.

Also, the tool provides the means for fine-grained control over the design. Specifically, users can provide comments regarding any elements, edit the text directly, and modify layout using Claude’s “adjustment knobs.”

Industry Perspectives

The launch has already seen significant adoption among industry leaders who highlight the tool’s ability to compress production timelines from weeks to minutes.

“We’ve loved collaborating with Anthropic over the past couple of years and share a deep focus on making complex things simple. At Canva, our mission has always been to empower the world to design, and that means bringing Canva to wherever ideas begin. We’re excited to build on our collaboration with Claude, making it seamless for people to bring ideas and drafts from Claude Design into Canva, where they instantly become fully editable and collaborative designs ready to refine, share, and publish.”  Melanie Perkins, Co-Founder and CEO, Canva.

For technical teams, the efficiency gains in prototyping complex interactions have been substantial.

“Brilliant’s intricate interactivity and animations are historically painful to prototype, but Claude Design’s ability to turn static designs into interactive prototypes has been a step change for us. Our most complex pages, which took 20+ prompts to recreate in other tools, only required 2 prompts in Claude Design. Including design intent in Claude Code handoffs has made the jump from prototype to production seamless.”  Olivia Xu, Senior Product Designer, Brilliant

The platform’s impact on real-time collaboration is also a key differentiator for product management workflows.

“Claude Design has made prototyping dramatically faster for our team, enabling live design during conversations. We’ve gone from a rough idea to a working prototype before anyone leaves the room, and the output stays true to our brand and design guidelines. What used to take a week of back-and-forth between briefs, mockups, and review rounds now happens in a single conversation.”  Aneesh Kethini, Product Manager, Datadog

Integration and Availability

Anthropic has prioritized enterprise security and collaboration, offering organization-scoped sharing and the ability to export designs as standalone HTML, PDF, or integrated handoff bundles for Claude Code.

Claude Design is rolling out now to premium subscribers. For Enterprise organizations, the feature is available via an administrative opt-in within the Organization settings. Teams can begin exploring the new interface at claude.ai/design.
