Veeam Software Launches Agent Commander to Address Enterprise-Scale Agentic AI Risk

Related stories

Veeam Software has unveiled Agent Commander, a new platform designed to help enterprises identify, control, and recover from risks created by rapidly expanding agentic AI systems. The solution is built to detect AI-related threats, safeguard AI operations, and precisely reverse unintended AI actions enabling organizations to adopt AI at scale with greater confidence and control.

As enterprises accelerate the adoption of autonomous AI agents, the speed and complexity of AI-driven decision-making are creating new operational and security challenges. AI systems can access sensitive data, execute actions across applications, and interact with other systems within seconds, leaving organizations with little time to identify risks or respond to errors. Agent Commander addresses this growing challenge by delivering a unified control layer that connects data resilience, data security, and AI governance into a single operational platform.

The launch also represents the first major integration stemming from Veeam’s acquisition of Securiti AI, combining Veeam’s data resilience capabilities with Securiti’s Data Command Center to create a centralized environment for managing enterprise AI risk. The solution is expected to be introduced in a future release of the Securiti Data Command Center platform.

“AI happens at machine speed, which means organizations must understand what data is being used, by what agent, and how in real-time. If an error occurs, organizations not only need to understand what data was impacted, but they also need the ability to undo any damage rapidly,” said Anand Eswaran, CEO of Veeam. “With Agent Commander, organizations know what data is powering AI, and it gives them the power to detect, protect, and, when necessary, undo AI actions with speed and precision. It represents the future of what’s expected from data security and data resilience, and it’s only possible with Veeam’s unified platform.”

Addressing the Growing Trust Gap in AI

Enterprise adoption of AI agents is introducing new risks tied to data exposure, unauthorized access, and unmonitored automation. In many environments, traditional security and governance systems operate independently, creating visibility gaps across data protection, compliance, and AI activity monitoring.

Agent Commander aims to close this gap by introducing a unified AI control plane capable of delivering contextual visibility into how AI agents interact with enterprise data. The platform enables organizations to track AI behavior, enforce policies, and respond rapidly to AI-driven incidents across production and backup environments.

A key component of the platform is Veeam’s Data Command Graph, a real-time relational intelligence engine that maps the connections between enterprise data, user identities, AI models, and autonomous agents. This architecture allows organizations to detect high-risk scenarios such as compromised identities accessing sensitive data through AI agents and mitigate them before they escalate into security incidents.

Core Capabilities of Agent Commander

Agent Commander delivers three integrated capabilities designed to secure enterprise AI environments:

Detect AI Risk with Context

The platform identifies shadow AI activity, risky agent behavior, and sensitive data exposure while providing full visibility into downstream system impacts.

Protect AI Pipelines Autonomously

Agent Commander enforces real-time controls across data assets, identities, and AI agents, regardless of cloud platform, infrastructure environment, or model provider.

Undo AI Mistakes with Precision

Organizations can reverse unintended AI actions using context-aware recovery capabilities that restore trusted data without reverting entire systems.

“As AI becomes operational infrastructure, enterprises can no longer treat data protection, data and AI security, privacy, and governance as separate disciplines,” said Rehan Jalil, President of Products & Technology at Veeam. “Controlling AI risk is effectively impossible in siloed environments or without deep contextual intelligence across data, permissions, and autonomous agents. Agent Commander unifies control across production and backup to detect toxic combinations, enforce granular policy, and precisely reverse AI-driven actions. This is the foundation required to operate AI safely at enterprise scale.”

Strengthening AI Governance and Enterprise Security

Industry analysts view the launch as a strategic step toward integrated AI risk management. As organizations increasingly rely on AI agents to automate workflows, the need for unified governance across data security, compliance, and operational resilience continues to grow.

“Acquisitions often raise the question of how combined strengths can create new customer value,” said Todd Thiemann, Principal Analyst, AIM & Data Security at Omdia. “Veeam’s announcement provides a clear roadmap for integrating capabilities and delivering enhanced solutions to organizations securing their data and AI estates. The focus on Agent Commander demonstrates Veeam’s commitment to provide both operational efficiency and comprehensive security for AI agents.”
