BlackCloak has launched an industry-first Identity Verification solution to combat deepfake-powered and other impersonation attacks.

BlackCloak, the leader in Digital Executive Protection for corporate executives, board members, their families, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals, has announced the launch of its advanced Identity Verification solution. This new technology is purpose-built to protect against a growing wave of impersonation scams, including deepfake-powered attacks targeting influential leaders and their inner circles.

Cybercriminals are increasingly exploiting artificial intelligence to generate realistic deepfakes—leveraging publicly available images, videos, and audio clips of executives. These synthetic assets are used to deceive employees, family members, or advisors into taking actions that compromise sensitive company data or lead to financial losses. BlackCloak’s Identity Verification solution is the first of its kind designed specifically to neutralize this threat.

With this innovation, individuals receiving suspicious communications—such as emails, texts, or voice messages—can now verify the sender’s identity directly through BlackCloak’s platform. The new feature is integrated into BlackCloak’s flagship Digital Executive Protection (DEP) Framework, reinforcing its position at the forefront of executive cybersecurity.

A rising concern among senior leadership teams, deepfakes are increasingly being used to orchestrate sophisticated fraud schemes. According to the Ponemon Institute’s recent report, Deepfake Deception: How AI Harms the Fortunes and Reputation of Executives and Corporations, 42% of surveyed IT and security professionals reported their organizations’ executives or board members had been targeted by fake images or videos. Alarmingly, 66% of respondents believe future attacks are likely, and 53% emphasized the critical importance of identity verification tools.

“The deepfake threat is real. And it’s costing businesses huge sums of money,” said Dr. Chris Pierson, Founder and CEO of BlackCloak. “Unfortunately, the cybersecurity industry to date has been unable to provide the necessary tools to detect and stop deepfakes targeting executives, as systems typically must be placed between the attacker and the target to analyze content. Because it’s impossible to monitor every communication channel within an organization, attackers target less protected avenues, like an executive’s personal phone or email.”

The urgency of this issue is underscored by a Deloitte Center for Financial Services analysis, which predicts that generative AI-enabled fraud losses could soar to $40 billion in the U.S. by 2027, presenting a substantial risk to both corporations and individuals.

“Our solution allows the recipient of a suspicious communication of any type to send an identity verification request directly to the sender using BlackCloak as their trusted intermediary,” said Matt Covington, Vice President of Product for BlackCloak. “This approach is the most effective way to find and stop such malicious content from causing significant financial damage. We’re excited to launch this critical solution as part of our expanding digital executive protection offering.”

Stopping Deepfake Fraud at the Source

BlackCloak’s Identity Verification feature enhances executive cybersecurity by allowing users to initiate identity validation requests through the secure BlackCloak mobile app.

The solution effectively mitigates deepfake attacks featuring:

  • Synthetic Media: AI-generated videos, audio, or images that mimic real individuals with startling realism.

  • Facial Manipulation: Advanced facial mapping that replicates expressions, gestures, and movements.

  • Voice Cloning: Audio synthesized to match an individual’s tone, pitch, and speaking style.

  • Behavioral Mimicry: Emulation of body language and verbal cadence to further deceive recipients.

This latest enhancement reflects BlackCloak’s commitment to securing every digital touchpoint in the lives of executives and their families. The company’s comprehensive platform includes services such as data broker removal, personal privacy fortification, and monitoring of smart home systems, mobile devices, and home networks.

Through tailored solutions and 24/7 expert support, BlackCloak empowers clients with peace of mind—knowing that their identities, reputations, and finances are protected from the ever-evolving threat landscape.
