Almirall and CrystalO Partner to Advance AI-Driven Ion Channel Drug Discovery in Medical Dermatology

Almirall and Shenzhen CrystalO Biopharma Technology have entered into a collaboration and licensing agreement to advance AI- and structure-based drug discovery for medical dermatology. The partnership will combine CrystalO’s expertise in ion channel target discovery and small-molecule drug development with Almirall’s experience in dermatology research, clinical development, regulatory activities, and global commercialization. Under the agreement, CrystalO will use its AI-powered drug discovery platform to support candidate discovery, optimization, IND-enabling studies, and early clinical development through proof-of-concept testing. Under the agreement, CrystalO will receive an upfront payment from Almirall, and is also eligible to receive success-based payments tied to research, development, regulatory and commercial milestones, as well as tiered royalties based on future net sales of the product.
