Catchpoint, a leading provider of Internet Performance Monitoring (IPM), has introduced Mobile RUM, a powerful new native real-user monitoring capability for mobile applications. Built on OpenTelemetry standards, this launch delivers deep, real-time insights into mobile user experiences—from app code to network conditions—empowering IT and digital teams with end-to-end visibility across the Internet Stack.
This innovation marks a significant upgrade to Catchpoint’s observability platform, which also includes new Benchmarks, a globally expanded observability network, private BGP peers, and enhanced AI-driven diagnostics.
A long-time proponent of OpenTelemetry, Catchpoint initially integrated the standard into its Code Tracing feature. With the addition of native mobile RUM, the company continues to deliver a future-ready observability platform, enabling consistent data collection, streamlined telemetry analysis, and flexible tool integration.
This commitment to OpenTelemetry is also demonstrated through the recognition of team members: Serkan Özal, a Catchpoint Architect, was recently honored with a 2024 OpenTelemetry Community Award and has been elevated to the role of OpenTelemetry Lambda approver and maintainer.

As global mobile usage reaches unprecedented levels—over six billion smartphone users with 87% engaging via apps—the demand for unified, real-world visibility into mobile app performance and reliability has never been greater. Modern cloud-native architectures require both technical and business teams to align around user experience metrics to remain competitive in today’s saturated digital landscape.
“In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, the need for robust and reliable native mobile app real user monitoring (RUM) and the need for borderless visibility has never been greater. We are proud to fulfill this need by offering our newest Mobile RUM capabilities, based on OpenTelemetry, to advance the standards of observability, web performance monitoring, and Internet Stack visibility,” says Mehdi Daoudi, CEO at Catchpoint.
“By offering these cutting-edge capabilities to our customers, we empower businesses to deliver exceptional native mobile user experiences, optimize app performance, and stay ahead in the competitive mobile market,” he adds.
The Native Mobile SDK RUM capability captures live, hyperlocal user sessions in real time, giving organizations a comprehensive view of how their applications perform across diverse environments and devices.
