BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) has appointed Arthur (Art) Hu as Executive Vice President and Chief Information and Digital Officer, effective September 30, 2026. Hu will join the medical technology company with more than 25 years of experience spanning technology, digital transformation and business transformation.
Hu joins BD from Lenovo Group, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President, Global Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology and Delivery Officer for the company’s Solutions and Services Group. In that role, he was responsible for digital technology, AI adoption and business transformation across platforms serving customers, partners and employees.
Before Lenovo, Hu spent more than a decade at McKinsey & Company, advising organizations on technology, operations, strategy and organizational transformation. His career has focused on connecting technology initiatives with broader business objectives and operational execution.
At BD, Hu will take responsibility for the company’s information technology and digital transformation efforts as healthcare organizations increasingly incorporate AI, automation, connected technologies and data-driven systems into their operations.

The appointment also comes as BD continues to expand the role of technology across its medical technology portfolio. The company has recently highlighted initiatives involving AI, robotics, connected care and digital capabilities across healthcare environments.
Hu will succeed Denise Russell Fleming, who is scheduled to retire from BD at the end of 2026. The leadership transition places a technology executive with experience in AI adoption and large-scale digital transformation at the center of BD’s technology organization.
The move reflects a broader shift in the responsibilities of technology leaders within healthcare and medical technology companies. CIO and digital leadership roles are increasingly extending beyond traditional IT operations to include AI adoption, enterprise modernization, automation and the integration of digital capabilities into business processes.
Hu’s appointment takes effect September 30, beginning a new phase of technology leadership for BD as the company continues to integrate digital and AI capabilities across its global operations.
