Multiply Labs Partners with NVIDIA to Advance “Physical AI” Robotics in Biomanufacturing

Related stories

Multiply Labs, a front runner in the area of robotic biomanufacturing systems, has just made an announcement about a strategic partnership with NVIDIA to incorporate the latest advancements in artificial intelligence and robotics into the manufacturing of cell and gene therapies. This marks the advent of the latest physical AI hardware within the realm of biomanufacturing.

While cell and gene therapies are a revolution in treatments for cancer, autoimmune disorders, and other grave illnesses, there has remained a significant manufacturing barrier within the industry, with many processes being very manual, time-intensive, and with significant variability in output. Multiply Labs deploys robotics-first solutions designed to advance operational efficiency, traceability, and throughput to expand access to personalized treatments.

Multiply Labs’ systems leverage four robotic arms operating in parallel to maximize production capacity within existing cleanroom facilities. These robotics solutions aim to deliver up to 100× more patient doses per square foot of manufacturing space compared to traditional manual processes, significantly enhancing productivity and cost efficiency.

Integrating NVIDIA’s AI and Robotics Stack

To accelerate development and deployment, Multiply Labs is implementing NVIDIA’s advanced robotics and AI technologies across three core areas:

  • Digital Biomanufacturing Twins: High-fidelity simulations developed with NVIDIA Isaac Sim enable virtual testing of new hardware and automation workflows, reducing the need for prolonged physical trial-and-error cycles prior to deployment.
  • Foundation Model Training: Open robot foundation models from NVIDIA Isaac GR00T are being used to train and generalize manipulation skills for complex biomanufacturing tasks, enhancing adaptability to real-world variations.
  • Perception AI Pipelines: Using NVIDIA FoundationPose and NVIDIA FoundationStereo, Multiply Labs is creating perception workflows that convert expert demonstrations into training data, improving accuracy while preserving GMP-compliant environments.
