Delinea, a leading provider of privileged access management solutions for securing human and machine identities, has announced the release of its open-source Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server, now available on GitHub. This new offering enables developers to seamlessly integrate MCP capabilities into custom AI agents, providing a secure and scalable way to connect AI models with real-world tools, data, and workflows through the Delinea Platform.

As enterprises adopt AI agents to accelerate software development, IT operations, and business workflows, the challenge of granting secure access to external tools and data sources continues to grow. Traditional methods often involve building one-off API integrations or embedding credentials in plain text within large language model (LLM) prompts—practices that create significant security risks. With the Delinea MCP Server, organizations can safely extend their AI agents by enforcing identity context, privileges, and policy checks on every request.

“AI agents are revolutionizing innovation, but they also introduce security and compliance challenges,” said Phil Calvin, Chief Product Officer at Delinea. “To mitigate risks like access request hallucinations and vibe hacking, it’s crucial to enforce identity context at every interaction. MCP Server ensures AI agents operate within secure boundaries, using ephemeral tokens and policy checks to help maintain traceability and protect credentials.”

Key Benefits of Delinea MCP Server:

  • Reduced risk: Prevents AI from gaining unrestricted access to sensitive data by protecting credentials and making all actions auditable for compliance.

  • Improved productivity: Removes the need for custom connectors, reducing engineering overhead and accelerating time to value.

  • Future-proof strategy: Built on open standards with broad compatibility, ensuring scalability and long-term flexibility as AI technology evolves.

  • Practical adoption: Allows developers to manage users, groups, secrets, roles, and access requests directly through AI agents, using natural language or advanced interfaces such as voice.

The release of the MCP Server marks Delinea’s first official open-source package, empowering organizations to extend their AI agents with secure, natural language access to privileged resources. Designed to support interoperability, the MCP Server is compatible with major vendors and adheres to open standards like OAuth. It also provides experimental connectors for open-source projects including Claude and ChatGPT, giving enterprises the flexibility to adapt as the AI ecosystem continues to advance.
