WhatsApp, the world’s leading messaging platform with over 3 billion users across more than 180 countries, has launched a new message translation feature designed to help users communicate seamlessly across different languages.

The new feature allows users to translate messages within individual chats, group conversations, and Channel updates. By simply long-pressing a message and selecting the “Translate” option, users can choose the language they wish to translate the message into. Once translated, the message can be saved for future reference. Additionally, Android users have the option to enable automatic translation for entire chat threads, ensuring that all incoming messages are translated accordingly.’

WhatsApp emphasizes user privacy with this feature. All translations are processed locally on the user’s device, ensuring that neither WhatsApp nor Meta can access the content of the messages.

The message translation feature is being rolled out gradually to both Android and iPhone users. Initially, Android users will have access to translations in six languages: English, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic. iPhone users will have access to translations in over 19 languages at launch. The company plans to expand language support in future updates.

This enhancement aims to bridge language gaps, enabling users to connect more deeply with friends, family, and communities worldwide.
