Google unveils $1B fund to boost AI innovation in startups

Google

Google DeepMind has launched the AI Futures Fund to support startups in building cutting-edge AI-powered products. This initiative provides startups at various growth stages with early access to DeepMind’s advanced AI models, including Gemini, Imagen for image generation, and Veo for video generation. In addition to access to these models, startups will receive hands-on support from Google experts in research, engineering, product management, design, and go-to-market strategies. The program also offers Google Cloud credits and technical support to help scale AI applications.

Furthermore, selected startups can seek equity investment from Google to fuel their growth. Early participants in the program, such as Toonsutra, a digital comic and webtoon app from India, are using Gemini’s translation capabilities to make digital comics accessible in multiple languages. Viggle, an AI meme-making platform, is exploring innovative video creation with Gemini, Imagen, and Veo, while Rooms, a platform for creating and sharing interactive 3D spaces, is working with DeepMind to prototype enhanced content experiences. These collaborations demonstrate how the AI Futures Fund accelerates startup innovation by providing the tools, resources, and expertise needed to test bold ideas and bring new AI products to life.
