Tenstorrent Acquires Blue Cheetah Analog Design Firm

Tenstorrent

In a strategic move to advance its chiplet-based architecture, Tenstorrent announced the acquisition of Blue Cheetah Analog Design, a startup specializing in highly-customized analog and mixed-signal intellectual property (IP). Blue Cheetah has long served as a trusted partner to Tenstorrent, playing a key role in developing cutting-edge interconnect solutions for its AI and RISC-V chiplet products.

This acquisition builds upon a previous collaboration, where Tenstorrent licensed Blue Cheetah’s die-to-die (D2D) interconnect IP to support the development of its modular silicon solutions. Bringing Blue Cheetah’s analog and mixed-signal innovation in-house will significantly accelerate Tenstorrent’s efforts to deliver high-performance, energy-efficient AI systems powered by chiplet technology.

As chiplet adoption grows, the importance of seamless, high-speed interconnects has become paramount. Blue Cheetah’s deep expertise in analog/mixed-signal design is expected to directly enhance Tenstorrent’s roadmap, providing the precision and performance required to meet the increasing demands of modern AI workloads. The acquisition also supports Tenstorrent’s long-term goal of fostering an open chiplet ecosystem, leveraging interoperable interconnects tailored to each chiplet socket.

Led by co-founder and CEO Dr. Elad Alon, a renowned figure in analog design and the technical lead behind the Bunch of Wires (BoW) PHY standard, Blue Cheetah has built a strong engineering and leadership team. The group brings a unique blend of traditional circuit design experience and advanced design automation capabilities. Their collective expertise spans a wide array of technologies including D2D, DDR, and SerDes—critical components for Tenstorrent’s next-generation product strategy.

Blue Cheetah’s interconnect IP solutions are compatible across multiple foundries and process nodes. The company’s flagship product, BlueLynx, delivers a complete D2D interconnect subsystem—including PHY and link layer components—supporting industry standards such as Open Compute Project’s BoW and Universal Chiplet Interconnect Express (UCIe).

“Blue Cheetah shares our vision to build simple and comparable chiplet ecosystems,” said Jim Keller, CEO of Tenstorrent. “We’re looking forward to the next chapter of accelerating AI with open standards and high-performance IP.”

“As a customer and partner, Tenstorrent collaborated closely with Blue Cheetah to realize the full benefits of our BlueLynx technology in their chiplet products,” added Dr. Elad Alon, CEO of Blue Cheetah. “The Blue Cheetah team looks forward to amplifying our impact by joining with Tenstorrent to provide both leading IP and chiplets/chiplet ecosystems critical to the continued progression of AI.”

With this acquisition, Tenstorrent positions itself to further drive innovation in AI hardware by integrating core interconnect technologies essential for scalable and interoperable chiplet systems.
