EdgeConneX, a global leader in Build-to-Suit and Build-to-Density data center solutions, has announced a major expansion in partnership with Lambda, the Superintelligence Cloud. Together, the companies are developing more than 30 Megawatts (MW) of advanced high-density data center infrastructure across Chicago and Atlanta. This dual-city initiative incorporates hybrid cooling technologies combining liquid-to-the-chip direct cooling with traditional air cooling to create a highly efficient, flexible environment designed to power next-generation AI and cloud workloads.
As part of Lambda’s accelerated infrastructure growth strategy, EdgeConneX is constructing a single-tenant, build-to-density 23MW data center in Chicago, scheduled to be Ready for Service (RFS) in 2026. The company also currently designs and operates two air-cooled facilities for Lambda, located in Atlanta (ATL02) and Chicago.
Lambda, widely recognized as a frontrunner in artificial intelligence infrastructure, supports leading AI labs, hyperscalers, and enterprises worldwide. Its solutions enable organizations to seamlessly scale from prototyping and training to deploying AI models that serve billions of users in production. The collaboration with EdgeConneX marks a critical step in advancing Lambda’s 2GW+ vision, which aims to deliver more than one million GPUs globally by the end of the decade. EdgeConneX’s hybrid cooling architecture will ensure the resilience, efficiency, and sustainability required to support the energy-intensive demands of advanced AI accelerators.
The new Chicago facility will feature the EdgeConneX Ingenuity next-generation data center platform, engineered specifically to support High-Performance Computing (HPC), AI training, and AI inferencing workloads. Ingenuity can handle extreme densities of over 600kW per rack, providing Lambda with the scalability and adaptability needed to drive its AI innovations well into the future.
